Psalms 40:1-4 👁👁 He has put a song in my mouth, and many shall see it. The verse does not say many shall hear it—it says that they shall see it. They will see you walking into your office or in your community, well aware that you are going through adversity, and recognize that for some reason you have not lost your confidence in God. You will be walking with strength and peace that is supernatural. Those going through similar struggles will have an inner witness that the Lord is with you

Many well-meaning people, to give an example, cannot succeed in being kind because they are too rushed to get things done. Haste has worry, fear, and anger as close associates; it is a deadly enemy of kindness, and hence of love. If this is our problem, we may be greatly helped by a day’s retreat into solitude and silence, where we will discover that the world survives even though we are inactive. There we might prayerfully meditate to see clearly the damage done by our unkindness, and honestly compare it to what, if anything, is really gained by our hurry. We will come to understand that for the most part our hurry is really based upon pride, self-importance, fear, and lack of faith, and rarely upon the production of anything of true value for anyone. Perhaps we will end up making plans to pray daily for the people with whom we deal regularly. Or we may resolve to ask associates for forgiveness for past injuries. Why is it that the urge to pray only seems to come when the going gets tough? When life is going well and everything seems to be right on track, we think ourselves to be fully capable of handling it all. Many people only recognize their need for God when things begin to fall apart.⚠️☢️☣️
We turn to prayer because it is the most personal way to experience God, to encounter Him and to grow in knowledge of Him. According to the book of Ephesians, God’s desire is for us to pray “on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians 6:18).🕒🕞🕓
Still, people are most motivated to pray when they need something from God. But what does the Bible say is the reason God wants us to pray? 🤷🏻♀️
Jesus provides clear instructions when it comes to prayer. In what is perhaps His most well known public address, the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus shares with His followers what has become known as “The Lord’s Prayer.” His example models prayers of praise, submission to the will of God, reliance upon Him for daily sustenance and requests for forgiveness and deliverance. Jesus’ prayer focuses more on honoring God than listing needs to be met.📝
Interestingly, shortly after this instruction on how to pray, Jesus reminds his followers that "the Father knows what you need before you ask Him” (Matthew 6:8). This raises a fairly obvious question: if God already knows what we need, why bother asking?🤔 The answer: Prayer is not a transfer of information, but rather an act of humility.😔 Prayer requires us to admit that perhaps we don’t quite know it all. In our culture, there is great pressure to have the answers, to convince everyone that we have it all together and to be completely self-sufficient.🙂👍

Human nature is very fond of labels. It is so easy to be branded with labels, and easy to give other people labels they do not deserve. 🏷🔖 Our Lord said that the test of goodness was doing the will of God. That is how we are to discern between the man labeled as being “good” and the man with “the goods.” Christian discipleship will reveal itself in character and behavior. The ultimate test of a person’s Christian faith is a right relationship to Jesus Christ, unsullied in every detail, privately and publicly.

Psalms 62:5-8 ⛰ This is the prayer of David that touched God’s heart. David says, “Wait on God only. Expect help from no other source. He alone must be your source, your only hope and defense. Only He can supply you with the strength to keep going until your answer comes.” When you become wholly dependent on the Lord alone—when you stop looking for man to help you and trust God to supernaturally meet you—nothing will be able to shake you. Nothing can move you into depression and pits of despair. David declared, “He is my defense; I shall not be moved” (Psalm 62:6). Now comes the heart of it all, the secret to prevailing prayer that every saint throughout history has learned—the pouring out of the heart before the Lord. “Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us” (Psalm 62:8). God will hear and answer you when He sees you are willing to shut off all outer distractions for a season, pour your heart out before Him and trust that He will respond
